The VP of Membership plays an integral role in promoting participation in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Woodglen. This position is responsible for encouraging parent engagement and overseeing the class parent coordinator role. Ensuring that all executive committee members, class parents, and volunteers are current PTA members is also a critical part of this role.
Promoting PTA Membership: As the VP of Membership, this individual is tasked with promoting the benefits of joining the PTA. This could include speaking at PTA meetings, writing promotional materials, and engaging with parents at school events.
Serving as Class Parent Coordinator: The VP of Membership also serves as the class parent coordinator. In this role, they are responsible for ensuring each class has a parent representative and helping these class parents understand and fulfill their responsibilities. This includes coordinating class activities, facilitating communication between the PTA and parents, and helping to increase parent participation in class events.
Membership Verification: The VP of Membership is responsible for confirming that all members of the PTA executive committee, class parents, and volunteers have active PTA memberships. This ensures the PTA is functioning according to its bylaws, and helps maintain the credibility of the organization.
In the role of VP of Membership, strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of the PTA's mission and goals are key. The VP of Membership not only helps increase PTA participation, but also contributes to a supportive and engaged school community.
